Job Description
Steve Lord is recruiting for a field based Datacentre Hardware Engineer to work for a global infrastructure & IT support services company. The field based Datacentre Engineer will be covering client datacentres in the Berkshire/Hampshire/Dorset area on a full time permanent basis. When not working in the field, you will be working from the client's datacentre near Hounslow/Heathrow. This client is offering an opportunity to work for a global IT services company with a passion for exellence, and providing the highest level of service to its customers.

Overall function of the job: The primary function of the field based DataCentre Engineer will be to provide the highest levels of hardware technical support for HP, IBM, Dell and Sun Servers, maintaining high customer satisfaction through maximising system availability and minimising downtime.

As a field based Datacentre Engineer you should have demonstrable skills and experience in: Hardware break fix skills on HP Proliant DL/SL/BL series, Dell Poweredge, IBM Blades, SUN Enterprise and SunFire Servers Datacentre or large enterprise experience Comptia Server+ Certification Any of the following current OEM certifications - HP APS Bladesystem, HP APS Proliant ML/DL, Dell DCSE, IBM System X Tech or Sun Hardware certified. Fluent written & spoken English Valid UK driving licence

Main responsibilities: Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining HP, IBM, Dell & Sun Servers. Identifying, analyzing, and repairing product failures, ordering and replacing faulty parts using the company in-house bespoke system. Updating the client's call logging system when completing calls and communicating with the client when carrying out any breakfix work.. Be able to work using one's own initiative hand in hand with pre-established guidelines and procedures to perform the functions of the job  Create, update and close calls on the company in house bespoke system.
